Description/Comment: These positions will be used to refresh up to 500 PCs for Commonwealth of Virginia agency users. 6 are to be based out of Richmond Virginia and work within an approximate 2 hour driving range of Richmond. One technician will be based in Salem, and one in Staunton and work within an approximate 3 hour driving range of the base. “Refresh” means new laptops , desktop systems, and tablet systems will replace existing laptops, desktops, and tablets. The new equipment is preloaded with basic systems configurations that will be tailored to the existing system configuration as they are swapped with the user’s older system. User data must be protected and restored in the process. Additionally agency specific software may need to be loaded at the the time of the refresh. Techs will be expected to refresh 4-6 PCs a day during normal work hours, must be flexible with hours and locations of work, and must refresh the equipment in a satisfactory manner.
The systems are HP desktops and laptops running Microsoft XP and Office Professional 2007, COTS, and agency specific applications.
Selected techs must have excellent customer service skills, follow detailed instructions, and have excellent record keeping skills. Success will require successful detail technical skills and rapid orientation to the refresh activities.
