As a Blackboard LMS Application Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the Blackboard learning management system. The System Administrator also works with other members of the Information Technology Services staff on shared projects and collaborative rollouts.
Primary responsibility for Learning Management System, including but not limited to:
Blackboard environment configuration and deployment
Version upgrade, specifically from 8.x to 9.x
Ongoing configuration modifications and environment scaling
Ongoing Blackboard application management
Administrator-level user technical support
Collaboration with application development and infrastructure services staff for support of application connectivity
Creation of customized Blackboard functional modules (ex. Building Blocks)
Create and maintain Blackboard user roles
Manage Blackboard version change control
Creation and maintenance of Blackboard test environment
Serve as Learning Technologies technical liaison for stakeholders, including but not limited to:
Participation in vendor technical relations
Collaboration with PMO unit
Experience in higher education preferred
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with a diverse community, including faculty, administrators, students, and other Information Technology Services team members.
Working knowledge of Active Directory, Snapshot, Custom Roles, Language Packs, Branding/CSS, Course Content, Course Files, Course Tools, Course Shells, Archiving, Notifications
Knowledge of technical support best practices in an academic environment
3 years experience in Blackboard system administration experience preferred
1 year in technical project management preferred
Experience with SDLC and project management best practices preferred
Familiarity with the SCT Banner Student Information System preferred
Experience in liaising with Help Desk/end user support personnel
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, perform routine tasks efficiently and accurately
Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports
Experience with Oracle preferred / Experience with Unix preferred
Experience with programming languages such as JavaScript, XML, and PHP preferred
Familiarity with IMS and SCORM compliance preferred
Experience with podcasting and streaming video technologies (Media Site) preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
