Successful candidate will be assisting with the migration of agencies from their legacy e-mail systems to new centralized e-mail systems, and all manner of tasks required to support this effort. Efforts may include assistance with migration planning, communicating with customers, assisting with evaluation of customer's environment prior to migration, and execution of migration tasks. Will work as part of a team or teams assigned to various environments. Some travel to customer sites throughout the commonwealth of Virginia may be required. Will be required to provide own transportation as needed.
Required: Microsoft Exchange 2000/2003, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003, Blackberry Enterprise Server, Microsoft Windows 9x/2000/XP
Preferred: Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Microsoft Windows NT Server, Novell, Lotus Notes, GroupWise, Quest Software Suite, POP3 mail, IronPort
Hardware: Knowledge of the following types of hardware. Desktops, Laptops, Server hardware, Blade hardware, SAN (no particular manufacturer required)
Needs to have a strong understanding of how email flows from client to client over the internet; Needs to have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory including, setting domain policies, how IPSEC works, Group Policy, site definition, replication, trusts etc.; Need to have a strong understanding on name resolution and related services; Needs to understand general networking architecture including WAN environments; Needs to have migration experience from one platform to another; Ability to work in a team environment as well as alone; The ability to work unsupervised; The ability to work under tight deadlines with little direction or assistance; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Communicate accurate and useful status updates; Mange and report time spent on all work activities; Document technical requirements and impact analysis; Complete signed tasks; Identify and track issues, risks and action items; Must be able to effectively troubleshoot problems under tight deadlines; Strong understanding of change management and why it is important; Must be able to conduct themselves with a professional demeanor.
Familiarity with state & county government environments preferred.
Certification: A+, MCSE or equivalent required. MCSA, CCNA are a plus.
Required working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Window 2003 Server products, Networking Technologies, DNS (BIND and Windows Based), WINS. Technical Writing and Presentation experience required; Lotus Notes, GroupWise, Novell, Linux, SendMail, Networking and IT Security knowledge and experience is a plus.
